Leftover paper

I was just playing around with some leftover paper from the two swaps. I have only fairly recently discovered Sudoku so little squares seem to figure largely in my mind and as a design inspiration. The first picture shows a biro drawing and some of the paper glued around it on the left, and on the right squares of the paper have been glued to a black piece of card and covered with turquoise and yellow machine stitching. The second picture shows the painted paper on the left and on the right is the stitched piece viewed from the back.

Antiques

As a blog isn't just about creating but also about posting I thought I'd post a some of my antiques, things I did a long time ago. Many years ago I attended a City & Guilds course in Creative Embroidery. One of my final pieces was a field of sunflowers.Cathy9f96_2

Each individual flower was stitched with many layers of thread and took hours to complete.

I never quite worked out how much yarn I actually used and I can't remember how long it took me to finish. My family and friend made fun of me and my obsession with sunflowers and to this day one of myCathy559a_1 favourite colour combinations is yellow and blue.

I'm still learning...........

the pictures below are part of two separate swaps. The image/s on the left are part of a 1x1" swap organised by Angie Hall Haviland and the one on the right is my contribution to the skinny book Susie LaFond will be putting together. In the middle you can see 26 pictures I made for this swap, plus two spares.

Well, I finally have gotten myself a blog. I have a vague idea what it is going to look like but as today is almost over nothing much is going to happen here right now, or tomorrow, or the day after. This could be a building site for a while, it may remain under construction ........ but then again that is the point of a blog, to change and evolve.
